Plane Crash Kills 9 in Sudan

No fewer than nine persons, including four soldiers, have lost their lives in war torn Sudan after a plane crashed at Port Sudan.

A statement from the Sudanese army said the civilian Antonov plane crashed on Sunday evening due to a “technical” failure.

According to the statement, a female child survived the crash which came 100 days after conflict broke out between the country’s army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group in the capital Khartoum

The conflict has left over 3,000 people dead and more than 2 million people homeless.

Port Sudan airport, on the eastern coast of Sudan, remains the only one still working in the country, making the city an important transit point for foreign aid.
